Abstract

Pastries were primarily shaped by ancient Egyptians. Traditionally ancient Greek and Roman people used to make pastries with almond dust, flour, honey and different seeds.  The incorporation of sugar into European culinary practices led to a significant expansion of pastry recipes across France, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. Pastries are small baked goods made from a firm dough enriched with fat, including various dishes such as pies, which consist of a pastry shell that encases a filling of diverse sweet or savoury ingredients.
